WDSSC Short Story Competition 2011

This is the 28th Year of this competition - Don't miss out!

Closing date 30 September 2011 for entries.
Make sure your entry is sent in plenty of time.

Prize giving date is 17th November 2011
Remember the first prize of $500 plus Travel & Accommodation to
Henderson, Waitakere, Auckland, for the prize giving included with
the winning entry.
The winner is expected to attend.

Be sure to read the entry form thoroughly. There will be no return of M/S. Please keep a copy of your work.

Results and Comments are available as usual as long as you send in a small
STAMPED self-addressed envelope.

NZ Money Orders - these will not be accepted for entry fees.

Please tell your writing friends.

Our aim is to have the judge comment on most of the entries although this cannot be guaranteed. These comments I hope will be of interest and encouragement.

MEMOIR & LOCAL HISTORY COMPETITION 2011

This is a national competition organised by the Bay of Plenty region of the New Zealand Society of Authors, and the focus is on New Zealand-Aotearoa. You're invited to send in your best writing on a place that deserves to be better known, or a person, past or present, whom you'd like to tell the world about. Who or what has a special meaning for you? That should be your topic. Everyone will be published, and there will also be the following cash prizes:

1st Prize
$500

2nd Prize
$250

3rd Prize
$150

Plus TWO Special Prizes of $100 each:

* For a Bay of Plenty Memory, Sponsored by NZSA BOP

* By a Young Writer (13 - 18 years), Sponsored by Tauranga Writers

The judges are award-winning writer Susan Brocker, whose specialty is Young Adult novels based soundly on historical research, and Tommy Kapai Wilson, the inventor of Kapai the Kiwi, and presently working on the iconic landmark, Mauao: Caught by the Morning Light.
