The Editor

From her own experience, Alyson B Cresswell understands the difficulties of trying to find the right information about how to write and what to do once a piece is written and publication is sought.

In the mid-1980s she helped set up and run the Dannevirke Writers’ Group. She was also a member of the NZ Women Writers’ Association. When the NZWWA closed down, Alyson helped set up and run the Hawke’s Bay Writers’ Group.

Through writers' groups, and now the NZ Freelance Writers' Association, Alyson is passing on the help and encouragement that she received in her early days.

Her own specialist area is fiction short stories, predominantly magical fantasy and science fiction, but she also wrote for children, and occasionally branched out to write mainstream and romance. She won and was placed in several short story and non-fiction competitions in the USA, was published in the USA, Australia, Zimbabwe, New Zealand and on the internet. These days her writing commitments are predominantly to NZFWA and to publishing New Zealand social history through Heritage Press Ltd.
